It is profoundly un-Christian to rejoice in the misery of one’s opponents, but it is, admit, always nice to know about it. Apparently they are all very very unhappy, marooned in their increasingly empty buildings, wondering which division is going to be axed next, their internal polling showing they are very very very unpopular, and the debt they have run up, like crazed Paris Hiltons on crack, is unsustainable. Let’s be clear here, they created that debt, for promising to solve problems and then not solving them. Everything they do fails. Their media is only working because they censor and subsidize, but every week, another propaganda outfit bites the dust.
That’s why they are miserable. The CIA says so. Miserable, frightened to the point of terror. Every new day crawling through the mud of being universally hated, their jobs increasingly meaningless. Their only hope? Indexed pensions.
Our new class of monster reductionists, who get all their prestige and money from delimiting the lives of others, have been living under a tsunami of threat ever since Trump and Brexit, or as it is known, “the worst decisions ever made”. This requires that all future elections be stolen.
It is impressive how lockstep they remain. How common across all media is their opinion of us, the many-too-many. We are anti-democratic. We are chaotic and dangerous. We must be restrained. We must be censored. We are fascist. We must save our democracy!
Google ‘Trump nihilists’ and you will find every over-educated fat1 boy opining as to how Trump supporters are nihilists. The Atlantic (several times), the New York Times (ditto), Salon, the Guardian, the Conversation, Slate, Washington Post, the FT, and so endlessly on. Personally I am glad most of them require subscriptions not that I read them anymore, they bore my socks off. It’s like reading the prose of a 17 year old boy whose mummy still tucks him in. Read one headline and you know the rest.
What they mean by ‘nihilists’ is that we don’t like them, which means we don’t like “democracy” which means we are fascists. That’s how simple minded the “main stream media” has become. Every piece kicks around the polis and ends with a plea for more regulation, certification and censorship of ‘wrong think”. Their various advocacy groups get to writing the legislation and devising the PR push.
But whence the word, ‘nihilist’? As far as I can tell it is from Martin Gurri, a former CIA media analyst, who wrote The Revolt of the Public, the Crisis of Authority in the New Millennium, a book entirely freaked out by the tsunami of information flooding the world. “In 2001, Gurri says, “more information was published than had been in all the prior years starting with Gutenberg. The next year, that doubles.” You could see the whites of his eyes when he said this, still goggling 20 years later.
.
It was Gurri, I suspect, who first used the word nihilist, about the many-too-many refusing the work product of “higher” education. His book was determinedly apolitical, arguing surreptitiously for the kind of man he was, which is to say – a control freak who suspects humans might not be herd animals. Much admired he is among the well-dressed denizens of the commentariat.
Let’s look at that work product of several hundred thousand over-educated, over-awarded people with no muscle tone, shall we? Us nihilist fascists need to know.
Civil peace is gone. We fight over inane things, like biological men competing in women’s sports, whether to take experimental gene therapy “to save lives” (a phrase I vainly wish to never hear again), whether the planet is warming when it is obviously not, whether reparations should be paid to Black Americans because 200 years ago 600,000 white people died to set them free, whether children should be allowed to castrate themselves at the age of six. This, this is disgusting and unworthy of an adult civilization. In every single westernized country, young women aren’t having children. Our birth rate is crashing. Our cultural product is woke garbage. And they caused this with their stupid regulations and even more stupid thinking. Stupid and deliberately engineered to divide and immiserate us in order to usher in their gleaming multiculti future.
But the times are changing fast. The past 12 months have seen a vacating of offices unmatched, as the corruption of their work becomes clear. Yesterday CDC chair, Rachel Walensky resigned. The following are just last week’s resignations from public office. The whole system is being thrown into instability as here is a wholesale vacating of positions across the globe. This week is no different from last.
Everything is being unmasked.
The Columbian President asked the cabinet to resign, the Indiana Dept of Workforce Development Commissioner resigned after 8 months on the job, Jet Airways CEO resigned, a staffer for Hamilton, Ont developer resigned after breaking Ontario Securities law, the Garenne Group founder resigned, the Butler Area school director resigned, Lula’s security chief resigned, Proterra chief Karina Padilla resigned, the Oregon Secretary of State resigned, Baltimore City Director of Communications resigned, Erne Integrated College’s entire board of governors resigned, Senior NCP Leader Jitendra Awhad quit after Sharad Pawar's surprise resignation, the Chancellor of San Diego Community College resigned, Rebecca Warren and Danielle Hilton, top prosecutors in California resigned, NOPD’s Vappie resigns from board seat, Derek Key resigns from board chair of Health PEI, Andy Marinos resigned as Rugby Australia CEO, Portuguese minister resigns in airline scandal, Shah Dhandharia resigned as Adani Total Gas Statutory Auditor, Soros-backed top prosecutor Kimberly Gardner mired in scandal, resigned before the Attorney-General threw her out.
Something is rotten and the rats are fleeing. What could it be?
“The banking sector is fine, but we’re not sure about the credit” - the Fed on May 4
Stanford Working Paper - The U.S. banking system’s market value of assets is $2.2 trillion lower than suggested by their book value of assets accounting for loan portfolios held to maturity.
You may not like charts, but I do. And these charts suck. And I am going to repeat this here until it changes. The administrative state has suffocated growth increasingly over the past 30 years, the rate of growth suffocation paralleling the rate of growth in government. Every single bureaucrat, academic, health worker, school teacher, police, transport worker is living on money borrowed from the future and at the same time, they work, hard, to suffocate growth, to delimit, to prevent, to “help”.
Fix that and the recession looming will not happen. The problem is that these people, who run our world, have no access to their minds. They think they lead. They cannot. They are supposed to follow. They are supposed to follow us. We are their masters. They are our servants. They have no empathy, no access to creative action, no inspiration. They have deadened their minds and they are destroying us.
Here, let me give you an example. Where I live, it is very beautiful, spectacular, one of the great beautiful places on the earth. The residents have shut down growth. They are mostly pensioned government workers, academics, bureaucrats, contract workers. They run the place, have for decades. We have no housing for service personel, hospital, schools, grocery store clerks. They won’t allow low cost housing. A decent house starts at $1,000,000. For the few “others”, those without indexed government pensions, one of the ways they make money is by short-term rentals. Which means they have a renovated garage or in-law suite they rent out to tourists. Yesterday, the green/socialist provincial government outlawed those, which means bang, there goes an extra $20K a year for the “others” class, the money that feeds them, pays their mortgage, funds their kids’ education. Further, the only economy here, other than borrowed government money which pays pensions, is tourism. There are a couple of crappy hotels and one Relais et Chateau. In one of the most beautiful places on earth. Three hotels. Tourists stay in short-term rentals. This means not only are residents struggling in the private market penalized once, tourism dollars will decrease thereby penalizing shopkeepers and restaurateurs.
Multiply that stupidity 100 million times - all admin state actions on the surface virtuous, underneath profoundly destructive. Try to start a business, grow a business, develop a town, a neighborhood, an attraction, an amenity, a mine, a ranch, a farm, there are those people who will spend their whole time, paid by you, to destroy that business.
How did they get so stupid, so destructive, so blind and yet so arrogant? Here’s the answer. They have no empathic identification. The senior academics who live around me, and who refuse housing to the less fortunate, are not interested in them as people, as individuals. They see them as mechanisms, to be managed for the greater good, as they define it. That’s why San Francisco is suffering civilizational collapse. There are so many people there with a mechanistic brain, Asperger’s, autism, that allows them to construct massive castles in the sky, but disallows them from feeling the suffering in their fellow man. San Antonio, Texas has solved the outdoor drug market and homeless problem, Haven for Hope has reduced homelessness by 77%. San Francisco cannot see the forest for the trees.
We Are Their Masters
They think they are our masters. They are wrong.
Gilchrist, who is an Oxbridge/Maudsley psychiatrist and professor has explained why we are living the way we are living. The experiments and citations in his book take up half the book, so I will leave it to you to investigate his thinking. But essentially what he says is that our leaders have been trained to operate only from their left hemisphere, the rational analytic mind, which is “unconcerned about others and their feelings: ‘social intercourse is conducted with a blanket disregard for the feelings, wishes, needs and expectations of others.” They are not operating with a full deck.
empathic entrainment is literally everything
McGilchrist believes that the right hemisphere of our brain is the Master. It has the preponderance of emotional understanding. It is the mediator of social behaviour. All the ideas, all of them, all creativity, inventiveness, and initiative come courtesy of our right brain. And all of these ideas are linked inextricably with our ability to feel the feeling of others. Empathic entrainment is literally everything. Even speech, the ability to reach for ideas and form words, is linked to the right hemisphere and the alternate hand’s tendency to gesture. In sharp contrast to the hand connected to the left brain, the purpose of that hand is to grasp, to take, to consume.
And that is why everything is so chaotic and contentious. The people who run our world have no connection to spirit, soul, emotion, creativity, or leadership. They are dead inside. And they see us as equally dead, as mechanical bits to be arranged on a chess board, in order to extract the most money, the most ‘good’ on their performance reviews. And the reason they are so fixed, so blind?
…skill and judgment, once considered the summit of human achievement, but which come only slowly and silently with the business of living, would be discarded in favour of quantifiable and repeatable processes. Expertise, which is what actually makes an expert (Latin expertus, ‘one who is experienced’), would be replaced by ‘expert’ knowledge that would have in fact to be based on theory, and in general one would expect a tendency increasingly to replace the concrete with the theoretical or abstract, which would come to seem more convincing. Skills themselves would be reduced to algorithmic procedures which could be drawn up, and even if necessary regulated, by administrators, since without that the mistrustful tendencies of the left hemisphere could not be certain that these nebulous ‘skills’ were being evenly and ‘correctly’ applied.2
One of Mao’s most popular pamphlets, “On Practise”, demanded that the knowledge class go work in the fields for a year or two to learn what real life was like. Of course, as this class does, the experiment ended in the mass starvation of farmers. But one wishes that there was a way to train these people in real life, in how to become human, not machine.
This is the result of the left-brained running our world:
fewer people would find themselves doing work involving contact with anything in the real, ‘lived’ world, rather than with plans, strategies, paperwork, management and bureaucratic procedures. In fact, more and more work would come to be overtaken by the meta-process of documenting or justifying what one was doing or supposed to be doing – at the expense of the real job in the living world.3
And that, babies, is where we are. Despite the impressive resignations by people who clearly are seeing the emptiness and dishonesty of their lives, we remain in the thrall to a class of people who, released into the wild, would end up crouched at the foot of a tree, weeping and hugging themselves until they were found.
By one of us nihilist fascists.

I mean the word ‘fat’ as used by Marxists, in that they are privileged and sheltered beyond measure, disconnected from reality.

Another fantastic article Elizabeth. You've cut to the heart of the matter as always. I'm guessing by your description of the "glorious socialist paradise" in which you're living, it's most likely BC. :) Even if that's not true, there is certainly a whole lot of nutty government there.
Speaking of resignations, does anyone remember that wave of C class resignations at major companies that happened about 1.5 years ago?
Unfortunately, I believe the resignations we're seeing are creating a vacuum that will be filled by even worse people.
Kind of like this:
Matt 12:43-45
43When an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it passes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ On its return, it finds the house vacant, swept clean, and put in order. 45Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and dwell there; and the final plight of that man is worse than the first. So will it be with this wicked generation.”
I cannot express how profound this Substack essay is.
Take a lap around and inside Corporate America and what you just wrote fits like a perfectly made key to expose their nonsense.
