You can see it very clearly in an ultra Blue, Demo-Commie state like NY where the most rabid and fanatical True Believers rule "our environment."

They shut down Indian Point nuclear power plant way ahead of time and NY city and downstate immediately lost 25% of their electric power.

Thanks to government bureaucracies, zoning boards, planning boards, NGOs like Nature Conservancy, Environmental Advocates et al. you can't even put up a small shed on your property without going through a hundred hoops. It takes YEARS to do anything by the book in this state.

NY state claims to "own" and have jurisdiction over our lakes so boat owners have to deal with the state DEC besides the town when it comes to rules and regulations that are often contradictory.

NY also passed its own, much worse version of the Green New Deal in 2019 when they passed the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act which will destroy this state in record time once it's fully implemented.

Our only hope is some sort of Divine Intervention whereby these huge, evil behemoths simply collapse from their own weight.

When I wrote Eco-Fascists, I learned that the Adirondacks were used as a model for shutting down people’s activity, I mean just beyond vicious behaviour.

Parasites don't die off until the hosts do. Sorry for that grim prognosis, but that is what we are dealing with. The vast non-productive (mostly laptop) class, for which I was for the last 20 years of my working life a member (as a defense contractor), all live off the labor of the productive element of the economy (some of which isn't even domestic). It beggars the imagination of a Marxist that that exploitation was not limited to the Capitalist class.

If you've never read a good introductory book on economics, then read Jane Jacobs The Nature of Economies. After you read that, if you have read other books on economics, you'll know how bad they were.

Currently I am on a road trip through the Maritimes and my husband and I are daily struck by the enormous forests making up much of NB and NS. I have tried time and again to explain the CO2 lie to my 26 year old daughter, but she is sure humans are destroying the planet. Very sad.

Elizabeth enjoy time away. We’ve barely watched the “news”, hardly kept up with any Substack articles or indie reporters and I have slept like a baby every night. We all need long time of the “cortisol carousel”!

Tell your communist daughter to take flight to anywhere and look outside of plane windows...the only thing that she will see 5 minutes away from the city is green land or blue water.

Your daughter will eventually grasp the truth, and she might grasp faster if she's not mentally fighting or arguing. Changed minds tend to happen when the subject is not "front burner".

I’m trying to just send her the occasional factual info website but she tends not to read them. I’ll be patient. At her age I was pretty much bamboozled by acid rain and the ozone hole 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

So was I at that age you tend to believe “the experts” not knowing they aren’t really experts at all. They’re merely paid to spew a narrative that the government what’s communicated to the masses for some reason, usually a reallocation of tax dollars to their accounts or black budgets.

California flushes massive amounts of fresh water into the pacific to protect the snail darter. This waste of fresh water is causing the most productive farm land in the world to dry up. California interstate 5 has many farmer placed signs that ask for relief from government protection of the so-called endangered species. The California condor a rare bird with a very limited habitat is chopped up by thousands of wind turbines placed in their domains. Many dams are being torn down to allow trout to thrive but is having the opposite effect. California’s attack on nuclear power is despoiling a once beautiful state that was on its way to increased prosperity for residents and migrant workers. California is an example of government regulations run amok heaven help us.

Randy Hall: Yep, and if the bastards in Sacramento tell us that we have to ration water after the record snowfall last winter and heavy rains, ... it drives me nuts.

The eco-nuts have closed the Pillsbury Dam pumps that sent water from the Eel River over the hill into the Russian River in the summer so that the Russian River doesn't go dry. Now, it will go dry.

Our town on the Russian River is now putting in pumps and wells out in Dry Creek to tap into the clean water coming from Lake Sonoma behind Warm Springs Dam. Warm Springs Dam built in the 1980s, was the last large dam built in the Lower 48.

The rich folks in Marin County wanted a steady supply of clean water so the dam got built.

In this state of confusion we vote to increase our taxes even though there are some of the highest in the nation. We tried the last time to toss the gov but my friends increasing my taxes simply don’t understand the hell hole they created out of this once golden state. So I have no hope of fixing our state. Yes I’m an looking at another state to move to. Idaho, Nevada, and Florida are ones I’m eyeing. So no progress on removing Gov hairgell. I’ll have to remove myself.

So sad California used to be so beautiful when I live there in the 70’s. Gov hairgel 🤣🤣 love it. Florida is insane right now so many people have moves from NY and Chicago. Have you thought of TN? It’s the lowest over all states for taxes and East of Knoxville is amazing. Old growth woods rivers to fish on and the people are filled with southern charm, so sweet and compassionate. I live in Georgia we’ve had a lot of new people from up north too and taxes have gone up because of Atlanta social welfare programs but it’s lovely here. My house is on an acre of old growth forest. The people are nice down here too.

Control the food supply and you control the people. The earth is vast enough to easily feed the world population without threat to the environment. The only true threats to humanity are greed and a lust for power. The weaker minds are programmed by propaganda or blatantly bought.

The threat to the environment are the corporate farms, feedlots and corporations dumping harmful chemicals into our rivers and most importantly the corporations creating processed chemicals and calling it food. Not to mention the jets dumping toxic chemicals into our skies and oceans. Do they honestly think we so ignorant that we have no idea what They are doing.

Great work, Elizabeth. That '5% of US land developed' chart tells the ENTIRE story. There are no real environmental problems here. Spend a day in a city in China as that is where environmental issues are.

"It must be reformed, root and branch. And the environmental NGOs that feed upon it, must be reformed or be buried under the contempt of the civilized."

With respect for your more indepth knowledge, I disagree.

NO reformation. Only elimination. (Is that the same as a burial under contempt?)

IMO, reformation is still the camel's nose under the edge of the tent. This faux self-righteousness they proclaim is not stewardship.

Stewardship embodies the idea of wise use.

Excellent point. Our current Intel apparatus, including domestic spying under FISC, is the result of the Church Commission reforming the old, bad, Intel apparatus.

There is no reform. Only obliteration. We must live with the risks that will be inherent without any trace of the progeny of the National Security Act of 1947 (the foundation for our still living Cold War state). If that is a frightening prospect, recall that this republic survived over 150 years without such.

I hope you enjoy your cortisol break (Love that!)!!

You knocked it out of the park, as usual! Your articles make my day :) You have enough snark to elicit a laugh (to offset the stress) amidst the righteous indignation/anger that I feel when reading much of this information.

Excellent article! I'm from rural southern Oregon and the ESA is causing many water issues for our farmers. The tribes are being used as pawns and can't see it. Yes - it has hampered development as well as cut water to farmers and irrigators these past 30 years. It's truly a crime!! Unfortunately, our current sheriff is a "fence sitter" and won't stand up to BOR, who is stealing our water. Our irrigators have won all the way to the Oregon Supreme Court and the Feds claim they are the supreme law of the land and trump the state (using the ESA). Really infuriating what they are doing. As they say death by 1,000 different cuts......paying the farmers to not farm, pitting farmer against farmer, giving tribes too much power, crop ins, etc.....so there is currently very little unity.

Development is a dirty word here in Sonoma County north of San Francisco. Every Tom, Dick, and Mary has an opinion on a new development. People here even tell you what color to paint your house. And if I cut down a tree.... oh, boy! I better say, "The tree was diseased and a danger to the community." right away and real fast.

This year is the first one that we haven't had hummingbirds at the feeder. We've lived here 25 years. No crickets this year, either. The vineyards outside of town like to say they are organic but I don't think they are.

The vast majority of the "endangereds" aren't even species, just populations in one specific location. This is now nature works. When a species is crowded out by others, or can't adapt to human change, it survives in other places where different hazards exist. In those other places the "endangered" may even be the crowder or invader, not the crowded or invaded.
