But it’s even more humane than collegial ties between professional writers. The engagement and spread of ideas between the wrier and audience is porous and holy Dooley don’t the ideas just sing and build! Comments around the thought-leadership of the writer is the wind in the sail of ships with a natural momentum. The Brahmin class simply cannot keep up. Hell even AI can’t keep up with spirit.

I was just going to say something similar! The collaboration is unlike anything I’ve ever seen in news media. Combined with the ability to cross-stack and restack means we’re finally getting full transparency.

We actually even build friendships with content creators, fund them where possible and cross pollinate. A writer on Substack liked my music on substack and then made a video for me. It was an amazing experience.

Thanks for everthing you do, Elizabeth. I am now subscribed to Clusterfuck Nation. James is great!

I spend most of my time on Substack. I have "met" so many great writers, thinkers, etc., on this platform. I've made a few real friends which I am so grateful for. I either booted out or was booted out of faux friendships these past four years plus. I cannot pretend to be something I am not, and it feels so good!

Whatever is happening on this platform, I am confident it will continue to grow and attract more literary orphans. God bless!

I don’t mind scrolling to read, but I hate it when the writers only link to videos. If I wanted videos I’d be on YouTube.

I disagree about videos. I find them to be very helpful when I'm trying to assess character. There's a lot to say about body language in my opinion. It helps me get "to know" that person. Example: in 2020 I came upon a lovely video by Peter Breggin and Meryl Nass. She was in her backyard sitting at a picnic table (?) on a sun-dappled day. No set up in a studio with a Zoom background! Just being her. Dr. Breggin at his home. I felt like a fly on the wall to a friendly conversation between two knowledgeable people. Yes, it also helps to nail down the specifics with written words. However, these early videos helped me form my go-to trusted messengers.

I do, however, respect writers who don't share their faces for safety concerns. I did hear Elizabeth talk with Dr. Breggin on his podcast. Such a sweet voice for a very tough lady! Almost as good as a video :) Another example is "A Midwestern Doc". Sometimes anonymity is simply a must.

Yes, some posts have multiple background posts & tangential posts to other writers' posts & I lose my way at times & have to retrace the breadcrumbs. Now I read straight through to stay on track with the writer's thesis & argument.

But largely Substack is where I do 80% of my online reading. It's astonishingly good, & represents a sea change in journalism. Plus I do like viewing video inserts in a post. Especially when they amplify a point the writer is making.

Substack to the barricades! Rock & Roll & keeping it real!

Yesss. Tired of scrolling, of hitting 4 keys to change apps, of recharging, of wifi shit, of an app changing it's background color to jet black (causing eyestrain), of reading kindle on my phone, & last, I couldn't work out how to post on Substack, & gave it up. But I do enjoy reading posts! 🥳 😆

As a reader, I cherish the day I discovered Substack! I have always loved reading. My only regret is I cannot afford to support every stack I love.

Even amongst the commenters, with a few exceptions, disagreement is thoughtful discourse. Like life used to be. I feel my brain working again, seeing subjects from so many varying viewpoints, connecting and unconnecting "the dots". Fleshing out fully formed and informed views on so many different subjects.

I applaud all of you for having the courage to leave the machine behind and step into what must be a somewhat nerve wracking, possibly financially unpredictable solo career. What you do is so noble and valuable and brave, especially in these times. I know my gratitude and 7 bucks will" buy you a cup of coffee", but for what it's worth, my gratitude is undying and I pledge that one day, God willing, I will be able to pay subscribe to each and every one of you. Thank you from the bottom of my nerdy, bookish little heart ❤️

I don’t often read many comments or reply but do have the one kinda “Girl Scout” thing about being kind to others so I participate.

I also do this w/podcasters, writers, etc. across platforms: pay and recommend (its own kind of saying TY) & then switch it up over time…makes ME happy & I imagine most would do it for free. I keep yakking that I’m gonna start up myself but all the tech stuff-not my forte. Time to cut bait or fish now tho-before it’s the end of the world as we know it😉

“Will we ever know how Kamala Harris was put over on the Democratic Convention like the sale of a used car? How the rank-and-file delegates got swindled into nominating her by acclamation without any debate, without anyone else rising to object, anyone else offering up themselves for a vote? There wasn’t even a smoke-filled room this time where the bosses actually haggled over who would front for them, not a minute of suspense, no process whatsoever. Kamala Harris was just pulled out of a hat, like a rabbit. And everybody involved knew she was a dud, a slow learner, inattentive, not well-educated, lazy, possibly high a lot of the time, self-medicating due to anxiety, insecurity, purposelessness.” — I read recently that Sleepy Joe (or Jill, or whoever is pulling his strings) nominated her because he was pissed and he knew they didn’t want her. Who knows? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I love your writing style, Elizabeth. Also your content. You’re exactly correct about Substack’s bevy of contributors too! I get a large portion of my news from y’all. Thanks! JHK is one I follow also.

Funny enough, one of the “party of Chaos’” writers on here would agree with your premise as well! There are plenty of like-minded that lot can read on here also!

Substack is Equal Opportunity information. Best part: I don’t have to read (follow) those I don’t like. 👍

Jeebuz fack, I love your writing.

😮😍💯‼️🤩

You encapsulate thousands of miles and millions of minutes into writing that moves, feels, like a raucous Christmas crowd on a train heading home!

Leaving behind the hard times and jobs, the nasty weather, carrying our own baggage but..! Everyone is there, everyone has just met everyone, lots of us have music to play or sing, many of us share our food and stories, and there are surprises for our people, wrapped in delightful packages of hope!

What a beautiful mind you have.

Elizabeth, my husband and I recently went to Colorado as a vacation and stopped at Ludlow where a bloody labor dispute had happened over a hundred years ago. The mine, owned by Rockefeller, only paid people in tokens that could be used only in company stores. They had total control of these people's lives, where they lived, shopped, what they ate, where their kids went to school, etc. I just think it is interesting that same people trying to do the same thing today.

As always, another well written critique of our current system and administration of corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. Here’s to a much needed win in Election Day to save our country from further decline. Biden-Harris has been the worse duo ever to hold the presidency. Their deceit and incompetence has raised our debt by trillions with untold waste.

Substack is one of my goto opinion filters. I glean the essence of what each authors has posted and gain their review of everything they take in. I do the same with John Campbell on Youtube, Tucker Carlson and others i.e., ZeroHedge. Once you begin to seek out honest opinion, it does not have to actually be the truth as it is, but as long as it is an honest view I can sort the rest from other sources. It is good I have had extensive scientific training and extensive financial world experience. It still took a while but can now see what is manipulative and what is BS easily. There is an ocean of deception and misinformation but once seen, never effective.

I’m curious to know if absurdistan is a nicer place to live than myopia ?

Collegial ...

It could be that we’re dissidents on the run from the utter bullshit and lies and mind control!

When I saw the Hobbit film and The Lord of the Rings I was disturbed by the fact that it was only very few of the inhabitants of hobbiton actually were driven enough embark on putting one foot in front of the other continuously until one has competed the adventure..

And it all starts at the beginning .. where it ends .. ???

What we do know is that where we are now is nothing like the place we should be ..

And we are the only ones in hobbiton that can see that.

We have a vision of the way the world could be ...and we feel we can make it into something that should be..

The. absurd has no place here. And yet we find ourselves bludgeoned by it ..

Strange that no one seems to see it ...

Meanwhile Sauron is creating armies of Orcs to run to the voting booths pencils and erasers in hand.

Soon .. the singular lidless eye will no longer stare at us from the dollar!

Hobbiton will be liberated and when that happens there will such a party at the Prancing Pony!

Meanwhile Myopia is absurd!

Or this: for $100/yr the reader gets to peruse all the writers using a predetermined number of articles.....
